Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados Hass preferred
  • 1 lime juiced
  • ¼ cup red onion finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño minced (or serrano)
  • 1 clove garlic minced finely (optional)
  • ½ tsp kosher salt adjust to taste
  • 2 tbsp cilantro chopped (optional)
  • 1 small tomato diced (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Cut avocados in half, remove pits, and scoop flesh into a medium bowl.
  • Mash the avocados with a fork, leaving some chunks.
  • Add lime juice immediately and stir.
  • Stir in red onion, jalapeño, garlic and salt.
  • Fold in diced tomato and cilantro last.
  • Taste and adjust salt or lime as needed.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes to let flavors meld before serving.

Notes

Store with plastic wrap pressed on surface or keep the pit in to reduce browning. For longer storage, freeze avocado base (avocado, lime, salt) and add aromatics after thawing.
